First Lady Felecia Hughes

First Lady

First Lady Felecia Hughes is a native Washingtonian. She is the First
Lady of Faith Temple No. 2 Original Free Will Baptist (OFWB) Church,
Capitol Heights, MD. Additionally, she is the First Lady of the Middle
Eastern District Original Free Will Baptist Conference of America, Inc.,
where her husband, Bishop LaVaughn Hughes, Sr., is Presiding
Prelate. She was the First Lady of the Northern District Union when
Bishop Hughes served as President for many years.

Lady Hughes is the Founder and Executive Director of The Beauty for
Ashes Women’s Ministry at Faith Temple No. 2 OFWB Church. In this
capacity, she has been blessed to launch the Health, Wellness and
Fitness Ministry, as well as the Young Ladies’ Liturgical Dance
Ministry. Lady Hughes is amazed at the power of God’s ability to bring
full circle her early passions for the youth, performing arts and
women’s fellowship.

She is truly a living example and upholds the characteristics of a
Godly woman. One of her favorite scriptures can be found in the Book
of Lamentations 3:22-23: “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not
consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every
morning; great is thy faithfulness.” Lady Hughes continues to give
GOD all praise and glory due unto Him.

She is truly thankful to GOD for The Late Bishop L. N. Forbes,
Founder of Faith Temple No. 2 Original Free Will Baptist Church. She
credits Bishop L. N. Forbes, and his spiritual teachings, as a
foundation and catalyst in her spiritual growth.

Bishop and Lady Hughes humbly submitted to The Honorable Bishop
L. N. Forbes’ appointment to serve as the Pastor and First Lady of the
Tabernacle of Praise Original Free Will Baptist Church, Waldorf, MD
(T.O.P.) from January 2000 – October 2009.
She worked faithfully with her husband as the Executive Director and
Founder of T.O.P.’s Victorious Women’s Ministry and the Daughters of
Judah (Liturgical Dance). As a visionary, she also implemented the
Tutoring Ministry Program for the youth which allowed parents and
children the freedom to attend Tuesday Night Bible Study together as
a family; and empowered the women of T.O.P., i.e., how to remain
holy, love their husbands, children, and take care of their homes.
While previously attending Faith Temple No. 2, she served as a Junior
Missionary, member of the Sisterhood Auxiliary, and Women’s Choir.
In addition, she worked with the Sunshine Band and taught the
children songs of praise in Sign Language.

First Lady Hughes is often reminded of her husband’s humility; and
stands with him as he does the will of God. She is honored to serve
GOD, her family, and her church. Through their loving marriage of
thirty-three years, Bishop and Lady Hughes are blessed with three wonderful children: LaVaughn, Jr., daughter-in-love, Atiya, and a
precious new granddaughter, Ava Yasmine; two daughters: Alecia
Latrice’ and Crystal LaNae.’
She is currently employed with the Department of Pediatrics and Child
Health at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC.
